I’ve been after a new eyeliner. My usual smudgy pencil is too erm, smudgy, in this heat. My black eyeliner is too gothic for my sunshine-obsessed state of mind. Brown isn’t dramatic enough.
What’s a girl to do? Well, part of Clinique’s new ‘long last bronze’ range has come to my rescue. The brush on cream liner in bronze is dark enough to make an impact and has a shimmery copper hue to it which makes it ideal for summer. Add to the equation that its long last formula can withstand the heat (and associated general stickiness) and it is a first class eyeliner. The little pot comes with a mini lining brush and costs just £12.00… bargain!!
The smoky eye is one of those iconic make-up looks, like bright red lips or platinum blonde tresses. The thing with iconic beauty styles is that they are often a little tricky to pull off. The up-keep and maintenance of white-blonde hair, making red lippy stay off your teeth, and applying smoky eye-makeup so you don’t look like you’ve just gone several rounds with Mike Tyson. Black-eyes ain’t pretty ladies.
My favourite piece of equipment for achieving a satisfactorily smoky eye is Prescriptives Softlining Pencil in Jet (£12.00). Not only is the colour a truly deep black but this fab eyeliner has the perfect balance of smudgyness and staying power. I like to layer the liner, applying a fine stroke close to my lash line before blending it with the sponge end of the pencil and then adding another fine layer over the top.
What I REALLY adore about this product though is that i can use it on the inner rim of my eyes and it’ll stay put.
